4. Give it a rest!
Hey, there.
C’mon, in and take a seat.
Hi, I’m A.M. Revere, but if you’d like, you can call me Merah. I am a Midwest-born Christian author with the aim to integrate faith into everyday life. When not writing, I enjoy a plethora of interests such as graphic design, music, TV and movies, reading, and minimalist organization.
It’s wonderful to meet you, and I am so glad you’re here. :)
So, let’s get to the nitty-gritty, shall we?
…
It was 2023.
I was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, brand-new author. One who had all the ambition in the world. A dreamer for sure. But no experience, wisdom, or patience.
You might call this is a scenario where I put the cart before the horse. That’s an understatement. In my case, the filly wasn’t even born yet. And the whole thing about putting all your bread in one basket? Ha! The poor basket didn’t stand a chance. It just buckled at the sight of me.
My debut book had just been released in all its glory… 13-point, double-spaced Times New Roman, ugh. My fellow authors, you know the feeling… so was my first-ever blog. It surfaced with its own generic name, the Revere Here Blog, and I had only a few posts put up, with a couple of short devotionals and a film review (which I hope to feature again someday). The introduction … oh, boy … was a doozy. You inner core subscribers, my ride-or-die supporters since day 1—Jesse, Lisa, Philip—may remember. It was quirky and a fun little season. However, the idea lacked purpose.
Fast forward to 2024.
For a few months, I had a Substack and steered towards short and punchy thought-provokers with a scripture or two squeezed inside. I also got a glimpse of what just a little bit of hope can do for many. It was an intriguingly short-lived experience - but hey, at least I made a friend (you know who you are)!
By 2025, I’ll be straight with you. I pretty much lost it.
I soon caught a sad case of writer’s block. This was no friendly little bug. This was a mean ol’ mutation, a ratty, annoying ball of dissatisfaction and disgust with what I had written, coupled with enough stubbornness to keep going no matter how hopeless I was and how overly tired I became. The dry eyes, light-sensitive, head-pounding, kind of tired.
I nevertheless, pushed on through, and any fear or discernment went right out the window. I rewrote, revised, recovered, and republished my debut book. Not once. Not twice. Not even three times.
24 times.
Yes, you read that right.
24.
And no, this wasn’t a typo I accidentally made when reaching up to the top of my keyboard to touch the numbers. (we’ve all been there).
Yes, I know… it’s a lot.
So, with too much passion and grit for my own good, in came rebrand number eighty, the Lexicon logo for the blog, and abbreviation: RHB. I was convinced that this one had to work, and it had to be better, because this time, there was a mission statement included!
However, in the past couple of months, something still felt flat.
But I didn’t let that stop me.
I was ready to brainstorm, mull over, and eventually recreate what once was all over again. And hopefully, get back into the swing of things.
By now, my conscience was done making comments of frustration and disbelief like:
Get it done, and then for goodness sake, just LEAVE IT ALONE!
Or, you’ve got to be kidding me…
And… Seriously, girlypop? You’re doing this again?!
No siree. Now my faithful but flustered conscience had taken bodily form and was smacking its head on the desk, groaning words I couldn’t decipher if I tried.
I asked the Lord what was going on. And almost immediately, I felt the Heavenly Father impressing upon me to dig deeper for something more.
So, I gave myself a rest (not without a couple more guest posts, first. Thank you, Ma and Pastor Tim!)
So, I waited.
I inhaled.
I exhaled.
I took the pressure off.
For more than a year. And it was a good, much-needed rest.
And then one day… glory be! During my time with the Heavenly Father one morning, the inspiration to create resurfaced. And also a gift I received one Christmas, filled with a bunch of writing prompts, got the gears moving again (thank you to the one who gifted that to me!).
And now…
The Merahgold, our new and improved blog, is set to launch on Saturday, March 6, 2027.

Wonder what you’ll see or the process that led to it?
That’s coming up next.
Check back with me from time to time.
Who knows?
I might pop in. ;)
What do you think?
